Belfast-born, London-based duo Bicep (Matt McBriar and Andy Ferguson) release their hotly anticipated second album, 'Isles', on 22 January 2021 via Ninja Tune. Two years in the making, 'Isles' expands on the artful energy of their 2018 debut 'Bicep', while digging deeper into the sounds, experiences and emotions that have influenced their lives and work, from early days in Belfast to their move to London a decade ago. 'We have strong mixed emotions, connected to growing up on an island' they say, 'wanting to leave, wanting to return'. 'Isles' is, in part, a meditation on these contradictions, the struggle between the expansive and the introspective, isolation and euphoria. Lead single 'Apricots' has a similar feel, steeped in a shimmering bath of warm synths, its spare percussion and arresting vocals bring the big room chills of 90s rave, while still evoking something lost or forlorn.

'88' was revealed by Actress in July and made available to stream and download for free through Bandcamp before retreating into the ether as quickly as it came. The release marked the first new music from the producer (outside of his Young Paint alias) since 2018's team-up with the London Contemporary Orchestra.

Thundercat is set to release his new album It Is What It Is on Brainfeeder Records on April 3, 2020, and shares the first music; 'Black Qualls (featuring Steve Lacy and Steve Arrington). The album, produced by Flying Lotus and Thundercat, features musical contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, Steve Lacy, Steve Arrington, BADBADNOTGOOD, Louis Cole and Zack Fox. It Is What It Is follows his game-changing third album Drunk (2017). That record completed his transition from virtuoso bassist to bonafide star and cemented his reputation as a unique voice that transcends genre. 'This album is about love, loss, life and the ups and downs that come with that,' Bruner says. 'It's a bit tongue-in-cheek, but at different points in life you come across places that you don't necessarily understand' some things just aren't meant to be understood.'

BRONSON, the brand new group by ODESZA and Golden Features, unveils their debut self-titled album on Foreign Family Collective / Ninja Tune. GRAMMY-nominated duo ODESZA and acclaimed Australian producer Golden Features have come together to form the powerhouse group BRONSON. The self-titled album BRONSON pushes the soundscapes of their previous projects to explore the darker edges of dance music. The LP features heavyweight collaborations from lau.ra of Ultraista, Gallant, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. The BRONSON album reflects on their respective needs to challenge personal struggles, both internal and external. Moreover, the trio recognized that their own battles were merely microcosms of the surrounding world. The hope was to craft a body of work that was reflective of that duality of lightness and darkness inherent to the human condition.

The title of the new record is inspired by the wonder of how the human body heals itself - a miraculous process that we pay little attention to and by which the artist feels enthralled. Recorded in the wake of a seismic shift in her life following a move from New York to Los Angeles, where she is now based, the release sees her embrace her new locale and drawing on the input of three exciting collaborators she’s nurtured long and deep friendships with: Jónsi (Sigur Rós), Mary Lattimore and Nosaj Thing, all of whom are also based in the city and gently nudge out at the edges of Barwick’s organically-evolved sound.

Known for her stunning live performances, which have gained incredible praise over the years, she has supported and performed with artists including Bon Iver, Grouper, The War On Drugs, Sigur Ros, Sharon Van Etten, Flying Lotus, Angel Olsen, Mas Ysa, Yoko Ono and Nat Baldwin. Live tour dates in North America and Europe is planned to support the album release in late 2020/ 2021.

Little Dragon is the pioneering Swedish four-piece fronted by enigmatic vocalist Yukimi Nagano, with multi-instrumentalists Håkan Wirenstarnd and Fredrik Wallin on keyboards and bass respectively and Erik Bodin on drums and percussion. The band return with their sixth studio album, 'New Me, Same Us' this spring, their first album release since signing with Ninja Tune. Marie Davidson is back with a new album, a new band, and a bold new sound. Arriving under the banner of Marie Davidson & L'Oeil nu, a trio formed of three old-time friends and long-term collaborators with shared roots in Montreal's DIY scene: Marie, Pierre Guerineau and Asae'l R. Robitaille (the former two are also husband and wife, and partners in the group Essaie pas). Renegade Breakdown is a reaction to years in which she spent most of her life on the road, navigating the club and festival lifestyle -- while also a forward-facing, innovative pop record that builds on the classic tenets of Marie's music to create something that strikes out towards a broader audience. With dark humour and interpolated musical influences'from Fleetwood Mac to Kraftwerk, and jazz classics such as Billie Holiday and Chet Baker'they spin each of its entries in wildly imaginative directions. Producer Darren Cunningham aka Actress, joined by the London Contemporary Orchestra, premiere new material as well as expanded arrangements of their dark and brooding electronica. Showcased last year at The Barbican Centre London and Strelka Institute Moscow and in conjunction with Boiler Room this 12" release named simply Audio Track 5 serves as an introduction to a larger body which will be released on Ninja Tune and Boiler Room TV as both a Long Player and performance piece in Autumn 2017. Over a decade of releases Cunningham has built a reputation as a fine creator of cerebral abstract techno, or R&B concrete, crafting pulsing kickdrums, jittering percussion and chopped sample loops into churning, rumbling tracks soaked in static. But he has also been on record saying he wants to make classical stuff for a modern generation. In this new collaboration, commissioned and curated by Boiler Room and the London Contemporary Orchestra with support from Arts Council England, the London Contemporary Orchestra bring a new dimension to Cunningham's choice of sounds. With the producer in effect using them as a new instrument, matching his electronic loops with precise manipulation of their acoustic instruments, together they form a heightened kind of chamber music.

Carlos Niño and Fabian Ammon have long been fulcrums of LA Black music, perfectly poised between the jazz crowd centered around Dwight Trible and classic group's like the Army of Healers and Build An Ark, the underground hip hop scene which grew from the Good Life and Project Blowed collectives and the heavy soul-beat sound of the likes of Sa Ra and Madlib.

What moves faster than the internet? OK, maybe light. But besides that, it's hard to find something more fleeting, rapidly changing and dynamic as the voice of the online community, which ultimately shapes the contemporary creative landscape both on and off the screen. As it happens, sometimes the artists who are most celebrated by the collective interweb are the same ones who later are in the throes of its fickleness. In the case of Lee Bannon, he's managed to slip into the elite of so many disparate (yet all discerning) scenes that even the speediest of hype surfers can't seem to keep up with his sonic shapeshifting. His latest album, Pattern of Excel, can only be considered a continuation of Lee Bannon's proven flexibility and commitment to innovation and progression. Few artists can say they've found success in so many circles yet claimed allegiance to none. Even fewer have either the innate ability or even the confidence to make such bold stylistic leaps, to soak up the digital torrent of the global music underground and re-imagine it with such veracity.
